Our local talents continue to make us proud on the world stage! Sharminidevi, who uses the name Sharwita professionally, hails from Malaysia and has made a name for herself as a prominent international model. Known for her appearances on the runways of various designers and international fashion weeks, she also serves as the Managing Director at Le Fashion Secret.

In this role, Sharwita aims to bridge the gap between international pageant queens, professional models, and the fashion tourism community through the international film platform. Her five-day presence at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival Marché du Film this year focuses on promoting fashion tourism within the movie industry. Here’s a look inside Sharwita’s groundbreaking appearance at the iconic film festival.

Sharwita at the Cannes Film Festival 2024

On May 15, 2024, the second day of the 77th Cannes Film Festival, Sharwita represented Malaysia’s fashion tourism by gracing the red carpet for the premiere of the Danish crime drama film “PIGEN MED NÅLEN” (THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE). Film stars and celebrities Tessa Hoder, Besir Zeciri, Trine Dyrholm, Vic Carmen Sonne, Magnus von Horn, Malene Blenkov, and Mariusz Wlodarski also attended.

Sharwita wore a stunning dress made by Malaysia’s top designer, Hatta Dolmat, inspired by the modern contemporary kebaya. The textured dress, covered in approximately 10,000 meticulously crafted white petals, took about two months to complete. Its ivory or off-white colour symbolised a fresh and pristine elegance. This appearance marked the first time Hatta Dolmat’s creation was worn at the Cannes Film Festival, making the debut a resounding success.
