We have officially entered the second week of Ramadan—that means the hype for Hari Raya is slowly on the horizon. Besides (eagerly) preparing ourselves for balik kampung, the amount of food we plan to eat, and duit raya to hand in for those little kids, we are all looking forward to finding the best raya outfit. And since the SOP’s has officially been lifted, it’s time for us to get glammed up and be the best version of ourselves.
This year, it looks like our favourite local designers are going all out for their festive collection—whether you are a traditionalist at heart or prefer a modern alternative outfit, best believe these designers will have you strutting in style on pagi raya.

1. EID ‘22 Collection, by Alia Bastamam
As always, Alia Bastamam pushes the envelope for Raya design and dressing. With more focus each year on resort collections and resort wear, Alia has made her Eid 2022 collection seamlessly segue from Raya to Resort. You will see bold colours and bold silhouettes, set against the subdued tones, clean lines and of course the Alia Bastamam aesthetic that makes every woman a goddess. The Eid 2022 collection is a composition of expressive designs that really evoke moods and auras. Find sarong ensembles that go great with the hot-right-now white tank top and 3-piece looks that can be split up for entertaining guests.

2. DREAMS, by Alia B
For their ‘Alia B’ garment line, Alia and her design team essentially selected soft neutral hues that are suitable for all, with an injection of a bold crimson and sophisticated black to suggest the idea of evening looks. “DREAMS” is composed of 18 looks that include easy, daytime sarong ensembles in soft cotton pastels – a key to comfort and a cool take on tradition. The feeling of feminine silhouettes can be found in a selection of elaborate laces; looks that can go from day to night – just switch your jewelled sandals for glamorous heels.

3. Tentang Kita, by Mimpikita
Mimpikita, a leading contemporary modest fashion brand has announced its new raya collection under a campaign that centres around the spirit of sisterhood – Tentang Kita. The collection is designed with the festive mood in mind. Inspired by the motifs of various traditional kuih, the exclusive prints capture the playful and joyous essence of kuih raya in vibrant and sweet pastel colours. The line also features a selection of matching sets for mommy and daughter with children sizes ranging from 1 to 12 years old.

4. Palma, Nusantara & Gemalai, by Poplook
For this year’s raya, local clothing brand Poplook went all out with their collection. Introducing not one, but three different campaigns titled Palma, Nusantara & Gemalai. For Palma, the collection draped around a resort-inspired capsule. Born from the anticipation of travelling once again. The design conjured an exclusive palm print in the softest colourway.
Nusantara is all about shine and sparkle. Featuring jacquard fabric, with sprinkling of crystals to embellished tulle with pearls and sequin. Taking inspiration from the vibrant local scene, pieces in the collection have been named after local towns and island.
Gemalai—a nod to the old Malaya feel. The collection featured effortless kebaya designs with scallop hem to clean kurung cuts embellished with eyelet embroidery. All pieces in this collection are crafted in natural cotton and royal linen blends making them perfect for our warm tropical weather.

5. Zalora Raya
For its eighth instalment, #ZALORAYA2022 aims to reignite the spirit of nostalgia and sentimentality as family and friends are able to celebrate the festivities after a two-year hiatus.
