Desaru Coast Gourmet Series Welcomes MICHELIN-Starred Chef for a Landmark Six-Hands Culinary Affair

Desaru Coast unveils its inaugural six-hand collaboration of award-winning chefs for the second instalment of its 2023 Gourmet Series.

With the theme of An Ode to Nature, the event honours the marvels of nature by spotlighting locally sourced ingredients to curate an exquisite array of dishes.

Set to take place at the One&Only Desaru Coast from September 1st to 3rd, 2023, the Gourmet Series 2023 edition will showcase two Malaysian chefs who have received the country’s inaugural MICHELIN Guide Kuala Lumpur and Penang 2023 awards.

The culinary event will be spearheaded by Chef Su Kim Hock of Au Jardin (One MICHELIN Star). He will be joined by Chef Johnson Wong, founder of gēn Penang (MICHELIN Select Restaurant) and Communal Table by gēn (Bib Gourmand). Chef Valerio Pachetti, Executive Chef at One&Only Desaru Coast will conclude the exceptional culinary event with a grand finale, showcasing his 20 years of experience working in a five-star restaurant across the world.

Renowned for his prowess in utilising seasonal ingredients, visitors will get to sample the signature menu of Chef Kim Hock. The offerings encompass delectable dishes like Bread & Spread with tomato chutney butter, flavourful cured snapper with longan gelée, szechuan pepper emulsion, and nashi pear, as well as hand-dived scallops with smoked broccoli and brassica purée.

The collaboration between Chef Johnson and Chef Valerio will yield celebrated dishes such as local cempedak with a twist of ginger flower from gēn Penang and baby squid glass noodles with wood ear mushroom and assam boi from Ambara, One&Only Desaru Coast.

Completing the dining experience, an assortment of Moët & Chandon selections including Chandon Australia Garden Spritz, Cloudy Bay, and Whispering Angel, will add a touch of effervescence to the occasion.

Desaru Coast Gourmet Series 2023 – Instalment II, An Ode to Nature will be offered in two intimate dinner seatings on 1st and 2nd September at Ambara, and at brunch at Ember Beach Club on 3rd September. Dinner is priced at RM800 nett per person, with an additional RM200 nett for wine pairings. Brunch is priced at RM450 nett per person, with an additional RM150 nett for wine pairings.
