Surprising absolutely no one, pop superstar Ariana Grande has emerged as one of the most streamed artists in history with 39 billion streams on Spotify alone. Starting her career a decade ago by releasing her debut album Yours Truly, Grande has since amassed a mind-boggling amount of record sales and streams. This week, the 30-year-old celebrates another career milestone by starring in the sixth episode of Billions Club.
Spotify’s Billions Club is a series where artists are gifted plaques for surpassing one billion streams on Spotify. The series has previously starred Bad Bunny, Post Malone, Billie Eilish, Lisa from BlackPink, and Jungkook. Each episode can be watched here.
Ariana Grande in the Billions Club
Ariana Grande holds the record as the first and only female artist to have fourteen songs surpass a billion streams in Spotify history. Her Billions Club episode is set in a recording studio in New York City and depicts Grande receiving all fourteen of the massive Spotify plaques. Considering the sheer number — fourteen!! — and size of the plaques, they had to be placed in two different rooms, as comically said by Grande in the video. No big deal.
Below are all fourteen songs by Ariana Grande that have been streamed a billion times and counting. Have you contributed to any of the sums?
- One Last Time
- Bang Bang with Jesse J and Nicki Minaj
- Santa Tell Me
- Dangerous Woman
- Side To Side with Nicki Minaj
- Into You
- no tears left to cry
- God is a woman
- thank u, next
- 7 rings (Grande’s first single to reach the milestone)
- Stuck with U with Justin Bieber
- Rain On Me with Lady Gaga
- positions
- Save Your Tears with The Weeknd
A Walk Down Memory Lane
As an adorable ode to each song, Spotify placed mementoes that reference each single’s music video on top of the plaques. A mini pink megaphone for “Bang Bang,” a potted cactus for “Into You,” a diary for “thank u, next,” and a ball of dough and mini rolling pin for positions are some of the mementoes shown in the video. Grande plays with each one as she reflects on getting a billion streams for her fourteen singles. “It’s a really absurd number,” gushed the superstar as she struggles to wrap her head around it.
Grande is set to release her highly anticipated seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, on March 8th this year. It’s safe to say that her current Spotify count of 39 billion streams and 14 songs with a billion streams will increase dramatically following the release of Eternal Sunshine. We don’t know about you, but we will definitely be contributing to the number.
