In a strategic move aimed at fostering responsible travel, Airbnb has forged a partnership with renowned Malaysian celebrity Daiyan Trisha.

As the hospitality landscape evolves, this collaboration seeks to instil a sense of responsibility and consideration among Malaysian travellers, encouraging them to treat Airbnb accommodations with the same respect they would afford their own homes.

Amid a rising trend of Malaysians opting for Airbnb stays, with nearly 60 percent expressing their likelihood to choose Airbnb for their vacations in 2023, the platform is doubling down on its commitment to safe and considerate travel.

The partnership with Daiyan Trisha brings a fresh perspective, leveraging the celebrity’s influence to convey the importance of mindful travel practices.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the collaboration, Daiyan Trisha remarked, “Whether it’s for work or leisure with family, I always seek the best places to stay that allow me to create wonderful memories. Airbnb is my go-to platform for both domestic and international travel.”

A Commitment to Responsible Hosting

Mich Goh, Airbnb’s Head of Public Policy for Southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan, underscored the commitment to supporting the Malaysian host community and travellers seeking distinctive stays.

Goh expressed hope that the collaboration with Daiyan Trisha would play a pivotal role in promoting responsible guest behaviour, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience for hosts, guests, and the wider community.

As part of its global commitment to providing a secure environment for hosts and guests, Airbnb offers a 24/7 Community Support team. Every booking on the platform includes AirCover, a comprehensive protection plan for both hosts and guests. This ensures that any serious issues during a booking or stay are promptly addressed, fostering trust within the Airbnb community.

Setting Standards with the Malaysia Code of Conduct for STRA

For Malaysia specifically, Airbnb will roll out a strata-building toolkit for hosts, featuring the industry-first Malaysia Code of Conduct for Short-Term Rental Accommodations (STRA). This initiative aims to set clear guidelines for responsible hosting. Additionally, Airbnb currently offers a Neighbourhood Support Line in Bahasa Melayu, empowering community members to report urgent concerns related to nearby listings.

The partnership between Airbnb and Daiyan Trisha stands as a collaborative effort to shape a responsible and considerate travel culture in Malaysia. As the country’s reliance on Airbnb continues to grow, the emphasis on respectful guest behaviour and supportive host communities becomes increasingly crucial for sustaining a positive travel experience.
