The Zone: Survival Mission 2 will mark its return with a large disaster simulator and thrilling challenges, promising viewers an adrenaline-fueled adventure.
According to comedian Yoo Jae-suk, fans can anticipate a far larger-scale survival mission for the second season. “The missions require us to endure for four hours, and they have become much grander in scale. Given that I naturally get scared very easily, all eight missions were highly challenging. However, compared to the previous season, I believe I have become a little braver,” he said during the virtual press conference, which was held at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Jongno-gu, central Seoul.
Produced by Kim Dong-jin and Cho Hyo-jin, The Zone: Survival Mission 2 comprises a star-studded cast of Yoo Jae-suk, Lee Kwang-soo and Kwon Yuri. The variety show displays as the cast members navigate through disaster simulations across eight different zones.
“We simply had to endure four hours in season one. But, we received new quests, which allow the cast to save time after accomplishing the mission. Of course, the remaining time increases as we fail to complete the mission,” said Kwon Yuri.
Lee Kwang-soo also disclosed that a health check-up mission astonished him, making it the most terrifying one. Of all the missions, the last one stands out as the most unforgettable, involving the expenditure of all the gathered coins and providing him with personal moments of brilliance.
Both producers stated that The Zone: Survival Mission 2 showcases various cities with large-scale missions, which was limited during the first season due to COVID-19 restrictions.
According to co-director Kim Dong-jin, “Many places that we have visited to shoot the program are open to tourists. I believe the beautiful sides of our country will be featured throughout the series. Visiting those sites might be another way to enjoy the show.’”
It was reported that The Zone: Survival Mission 2 was filmed in several locations, including Incheon, Ilsan , Seoul, Daejeon, Dangjin , Mungyeong, Wonju and Busan.
Based on the sneak peek shown during the virtual press conference, the cast was seen undergoing action-packed missions, including a zombie-like apocalypse, searching for life-saving water in a haunted hospital, and playing golf by the beach in an attempt to escape a rapidly sinking island.
The Zone: Survival Mission 2, an eight-part variety show will be exclusively released on 14th June through Disney+.
