1. Narrow Marrow

One word to describe this cafe? Cool. One of the most unique cafes in George Town, we love this cafe for its laid back vibes and amazing coffee. Not only does it have an amazing lineup of handcrafted drinks and desserts, they also serve toddy! The upstairs area also serves as a space for exhibitions, screenings, and showcases, so be sure to follow them on Instagram to catch what’s on.

2. La Vie En Rose Pâtisserie

Oh la la! La Vie En Rose Pâtisserie really takes the cake for being one of the most instagrammable cafes in Penang. Even the pastel pink exterior of the shop is worth of a photo-op. Known for its delectable French pastries, we can’t get enough of their famous beignets, croissants, and madeleines. Sit down, have a cup of coffee, and definitely get at least one pastry to try out. A can’t miss when you’re in Penang, La Vie En Rose Pâtisserie is one of the best cafes in Penang in our books.

China House is a compound of three beautiful, traditional shophouses, and it’s a must-visit when you’re in the area. A very instagrammable cafe in Penang, this cafe is known for its amazing selection of coffee, pastries, and even fusion dishes that’s absolutely worth the drive. The best part? It’s open until late.

4. Urban Daybreak

You may know their popular branch in Bangsar, but we definitely recommend their branch in George Town. Urban Daybreak is immensely popular, but for good reason. They’re an Australian-inspired artisan brunch joint known for, you guessed it, brunch food! If you’re craving a hearty plate of Fried Chicken Waffles, crispy pan seared salmon with tomatoes and poached egg, or a classic BLT, pop over to Urban Daybreak as soon as the day breaks until closing time as they serve all-day brunch. What’s more, it’s pet friendly!

5. Ome By Spacebar Coffee

Don’t be fooled by its unassuming exterior, this small shop serves up some of the best coffee in the state. Tucked away in a small alley, Ome By Spacebar Coffee is seriously one of the best hidden cafes in Penang. They serve up house-made cakes and specialty coffee, and the place makes for an amazing hangout spot. We definitely recommend One By Spacebar Coffee for a good ol’ cup of coffee, alongside a pastry to go with joe.

6. TEMU

Look at that beautiful cup of coffee, we’re drooling. Known for their industrial interior, seriously amazing specialty coffees, and delectable food, we absolutely recommend TEMU for being one of the best cafes in Penang. Our favourites from this cafe include their signature waffle, strawberry cold brew coffee, and we also love trying out their drip of the day. Trust us, come for the vibes, stay for the coffee.

7. Kafka

No, not that Kafka. This Kafka is a beautiful and unique cafe in Penang, where you can find just some really good food and drinks. They have a huge breakfast menu that includes Eggplant Shakshuka, Chorizo Tostada, and Pandan Pancake that they serve until 11am, but don’t worry, they have a late breakfast menu that they serve until 1pm, as well as a lunch and a dinner menu. Be completely spoilt for choice at this cafe, but don’t forget to order coffee or matcha!
