Lee Sung Min during Shadow Detective Season 2 Press Conference

During the press conference on July 3, 2023, Lee Sung Min himself described Season 2 as “fishing with a gigantic net” after the bait-filled Season 1. Makes you wonder what surprises Season 3 has in store, right? Too soon to tell, perhaps?

Recap: Season 1

Now, let’s dive into a quick recap of last season, without spoiling too much for those who haven’t seen it. For a considerable time, Detective Kim Taek-Rok has showcased his dynamic nature, unwavering courage, and unparalleled passion as a police officer, instilling fear in the hearts of criminals.

Still cuts of Taek-Rok in Season 2

Our hero, Taek-Rok, a seasoned detective who is also on the verge of retirement, receives enigmatic phone calls from someone claiming to be an old friend.

In one chilling conversation, this friend shockingly confesses to the murder of Taek-Rok’s colleague, Woo Hyun-Seok (played brilliantly by Kim Tae Hoon). As a result, Taek-Rok finds himself under suspicion for the crime. The caller suggests digging into Taek-Rok’s past to uncover potential misdeeds.

Enter Kook Jin-Han (played by Jin Goo), the new chief of the investigation squad at Geumo Police Station. Initially wary of our protagonist, Jin-Han gradually begins to believe in Taek-Rok’s innocence and puts his trust in him.

Alongside the determined Detectives Lee Sung-A (portrayed by Kyung Soo Jin) and Son Kyung-Chan (played by Lee Hak Joo), they embark on a mission to locate Taek-Rok’s elusive old friend and unveil the truth.

Let me tell you, each episode packs a punch, leaving you glued to your seat, eagerly anticipating what twists and turns await. As for me, I had my suspicions about the identity of the ‘old friend,’ but I stubbornly clung to denial, and boy, was I in for a surprise!

Season 2: The first two episodes!

What an exciting ride as we dive into Shadow Detective Season 2 after the thrilling finale of Season 1! We’ve been left with a bunch of lingering questions, and it turns out the initial problems were just the tip of the iceberg, tied to a much larger organisation.

A year has passed since the previous incident, and Taek-Rok finds himself transferred to the Women and Juvenile Affairs department—a calmer and less action-packed environment that offers him a smooth transition into retirement. It seems like the perfect setup for him.

While Taek-Rok tries to leave his lingering questions in the past, the first two episodes serve as a foundation for what’s to come. And guess what? The director himself hinted at the press conference that the real action kicks off from episode 3 onwards. Get ready to buckle up!

Season 2 Begins!

Now, the first two episodes might leave you scratching your head a bit, as they’re packed with mystery, curiosity, and plenty of doubt swirling among the characters from Season 1. They all seem to harbour secrets, casting a cloud of uncertainty.

In Taek-Rok’s world, things appear to be looking up. The people around him have transformed for the better. Yang Gi Tae (played by Kim Jae Bum) becomes the apartment manager, and even Kong Ha Neul (played by Ko Kyu Pil), who failed the police examination five times, now passes and becomes Taek-Rok’s partner. Quite an unexpected turn of events!

But just when you think everything is going smoothly, a twist comes along. Lee Sung A finds herself in hot water after entering an explosive building during an investigation. Talk about an adrenaline-pumping moment! You’ll have to watch to find out what happens next!

Will we expect some beef between Taek-Rok and Kyung Chan?

And let’s not forget about Kyung Chan. He’s always been sceptical of Taek-Rok, and this season, he seems to be onto something. There’s a spark in his eyes as if he’s uncovering a hidden truth about our main character.

New Face

Now, we have a new face in Season 2, Yeon Ju Hyun (played by the talented Kim Shin Rok), the Team leader of Women and Juvenile Affairs. Already, there’s a hint of mystery surrounding her, leaving us wondering what secrets she holds and how it all connects to Taek-Rok.

Believe me when I say there’s a whirlwind of events packed into the first two episodes. They’ll keep you on the edge of your seat, yearning to find out what happens next. It’s like a clickbait that grabs your attention and won’t let go until the very end. Get ready to immerse yourself in this captivating series!

Fun Facts!

Did you know that Lee Sung Min and Kim Shin Rok have previously starred together as father and daughter in Reborn Rich? Now, they’re reunited once again, but this time the dynamics between them might be completely different.

Will they become rivals or allies? It’s a mystery waiting to unfold, and you don’t want to miss witnessing the incredible chemistry between these two talented co-stars! Stay tuned for more exciting twists and turns in Shadow Detective Season 2!
