In Colonial Restaurant Review

In Colonial Restaurant

The  In Colonial Restaurant is a brainchild of Executive Chef Kam Tsang Ming, who has various experiences working at other Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong and Switzerland. As the name suggests, the restaurant features contemporary Chinese cuisine with a grandeur interior that is inspired by English Colonial. With their relaxing ambience and highly skilled staff, a dining experience at In Colonial Restaurant will surely be an unforgettable moment.

At In Colonial Restaurant, the dishes are crafted with inspiration from modern Chinese. Added with the profound experience of its executive chef, they deftly merge Chinese cuisine with Western ingredients.  In terms of its menu, they offer an array of delectable dishes in which you can select a la carte or menu set, depending on your preference. If it is your first time visiting the restaurant, we suggest that you opt for their menu set. However, if you’re feeling quite bold, you can select any preferred dishes from the a la carte menu. But make sure to ask for some recommendations from their staff.

Amongst the available options of menu sets are lunch, dinner and a signature one plate menu. For those who want to dine with their family or friends, the lunch set menu and dinner set menu are splendid options since they are curated for up to 10 people. Thus the In Colonial Restaurant is ideal if you want to hold a private event or simply a large gathering with your loved ones. The price for both set menus is between RM168 and RM1288.

On the other hand, the signature one plate menu offers a selection of the main dish like Duck Rice in Broth (RM23), In Colonial Chicken Chop with Fried Rice (RM20), Fresh Water Prawn with Hong Kong Noodles (RM28) and Stewed Beef Brisket Rice (RM26). Guests can choose to add RM5 for a cup of long black or RM3 for beverages including soft drinks, and hot or ice lemon tea. However, this meal set is only available on weekdays starting from 11 am to 2.30 pm.

If you truly want to relish your taste buds with a variety of lip-smacking dishes, we advise that you order its signature dishes. The In Colonial Black Pepper Rib Eye Cubes features a premium cut of rib eye cubes that are pan-fried with in house black pepper sauce. For seafood lovers, they definitely could not resist the Salted Pepper Squid, which features a well-seasoned squid that is fried to perfection. Other dishes that are worth mentioning are In Colonial Baked Jumbo Prawn and Steamed Australian Garlic Scallops, in which the latter is slowly steamed with a mixture of minced garlic and grass noodle to accentuate the scallops.

Haven’t gotten the chance to try out any sea cucumber yet? You will be glad to know that the In Colonial Restaurant also offers such a dish. Our personal pick has to be Admiral Butter Chicken which is served with a special butter sauce and broccoli florets. As meat lovers, we could not emphasise enough how tasty the Salted Duck Meat Sliced. Aside from its juicy meat, it has a subtle smokey flavour. For first-timers, make sure to order the Swiss Spring Roll which comprises fresh vegetables and swiss cheese.

Any Chinese dishes need to be accompanied by tea for the ultimate experience, so make sure to try out the Cha Wang (RM6) or Puer (RM3.50). However, if you want to steer away from the regular beverages, we suggest that you order the mocktails which come in a variety of flavours including lemon Ribena soda (RM12), green apple splash (RM16), orange mocktail (RM18), mint soda (RM16) and 1000 punch (RM22).
