In a blink of an eye, it has been 10 years since KL Fashion Week debuted! As a platform to boost local designers in the fashion industry, we Malaysians look forward to KLFW every year. So let’s have a recap on everything that happened during KLFW shall we? This year marks its 10th anniversary and let’s just say that it went out with a bang!
Alicia Amin Fighting For Models’ Rights
First off, Alicia Amin braved the entrance alone fighting for models’ rights. Not all is sweet and innocent in the fashion industry and this is definitely not the first time we’ve heard of KLFW models not getting paid on time. This year, Alicia Amin stepped up to the injustice and stood up for her fellow models. Although she received backlash, Alicia isn’t bothered by the episode. Standing her ground and doing her best to make a change in the fashion industry.
Daiyan Trisha Slaying KLFW
Daiyan Trisha knows the hustle more than anyone! Jumping from KL to NYC to London and back to KL again, Daiyan Trisha was city hopping 3 cities in 3 weeks! Doing it all with grace, she still manages to look bomb at every event. Daiyan Trisha made a fresh appearance at Alia Bastamam’s show on Saturday evening. If you think her stylist did a great job at styling, you’re in for a surprise! Daiyan Trisha opted to style herself for the show and came in clutch when she appeared in a gorgeous pleated dress and circular clutch. Furthermore, she even had to change into 4 different outfits for different shows the next day, including walking the runway for one.
Party Like A Rockstar
We’ve all been so busy adjusting back to life that we’ve forgotten how to party. Rizman Ruzaini’s show reminded us how to live when he featured his “Red” showcase. This KLFW show definitely put us in the mood to party with black, pink and shimmering dresses. Tops and pantsuits were also paired with fringes, elaborate finishing and diamantes. Some of Malaysia’s IT girls and legendary models brought the collection to life.
As Datuk Seri Vida made her runway debut, Aina Abdul showed up in one of the puffiest black dresses we’ve ever seen! Furthermore, Malaysia’s IT girl group Dolla also made an appearance at Neonate’s show. KLFW closed with “Mimpikita Planet” and we were transported to a whole new world.
Just when we thought KLFW couldn’t get more lit, it literally went up in flames! On the 21st of August 2022, a little fire incident broke out backstage. Frenzied netizens were shocked and concerned. Thankfully, no one was hurt and the fire was promptly extinguished.
