1. Longlegs
In the mood for a chilling horror experience in the movie theatre? Longlegs just hit cinemas and it stars Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage, the former as an FBI agent working to track down the latter, an illusive serial killer targeting families. Now we’ve been around the block here at Glitz but the creepy marketing for Longlegs knocked us off our feet — it was simply that good. It’s up to you to decide whether the movie itself lived up to its promotion.

2. Twisters
If you feel like there’s an abundance of weather-related references in this article so far, rest assured it was deliberate. Twisters is an American disaster film starring heartthrob-of-the-month Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones, a sequel to the 1996 movie Twister. The movie revolves around a team of storm chasers who, after messing around with a tornado, must survive the catastrophe they unleashed. Place your bets on who will be sucked into the twisters and perish first.

3. Deadpool & Wolverine
Remember the Deadpool franchise, the curse-laden, third-wall-breaking franchise starring the eponymous super-powered vigilante played by Ryan Reynolds? The third installment, co-starring Wolverine AKA Hugh Jackman, just hit theatres, and you’re not going to want to miss this one, especially if you’re an MCU fan. Deadpool & Wolverine marks both superheroes’ entry into the franchise, as the Time Variance Authority (TVA) assigns Deadpool on a mission alongside Wolverine that will change the larger course of events in the MCU.

4. Sweet Home Season 3
Apocalyptic horror Sweet Home (based on the popular Naver webtoon) is back with its third and final season, starring Korean drama heavy-hitters Song Kang, Lee Jin-wook, and Lee Si-young. Imagine what the world would look like if a large percentage of the population randomly turned into grotesque monsters hellbent on harming humans. With Sweet Home, we don’t have to use our imaginations, all we have to do is take in the proceedings with increasing fervour.

5. Time Bandits
Is there too much horror in our what to watch in July 2024 list? Let’s break the monotony with Time Bandits, a fantasy adventure show spanning time and space. Based on the 1981 film of the same name, Time Bandits follows a group of thieves and their newest member, an eleven-year-old history nerd. You will spot a host of familiar faces in this lighthearted romp, including the star of the show Lisa Kudrow, everyone’s favourite character from the iconic series Friends.

6. Lady in the Lake
Now that the brief intermission is over, it’s time to return to more serious content like our next entry, Lady in the Lake. This drama-thriller miniseries stars Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram and is set in 1960s Baltimore. Based on Laura Lippman’s novel, the show unfolds with intense and gripping storytelling with heavy themes including homicide, abuse, and racial discrimination. Follow Portman’s character as she obsessively attempts to solve the cases of two separate, seemingly unrelated murders.
