Glitz is excited to know that Malaysia will host the critically acclaimed original production of The Sound of Music Musical for the first time this December. The musical, produced by Broadway International Group, Simone Genatt, and Marc Routh, will premiere at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur, this 27th December.
The fan-favorite anthems such as Do-Re-Mi, Edelweiss, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, The Lonely Goatherd, and the title song, The Sound of Music, are among the most memorable songs ever heard on stage or screen and will be coming to live reverberate inside the theater.
The Sound of Music is one of the most successful Broadway musicals of all time, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the Grammy Award for Best Show Album. It is directed by three-time Tony Award winner and Broadway veteran Jack O’Brien. The live performance inspired the film starring Julie Andrews, which won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and is one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
They also cast 17 local children in the roles of the Von Trapp children in The Sound of Music Musical Malaysia, in addition to their own original performers. As a result, our talented young kids will be performing alongside Broadway performers! The kids, aged six to 14, were chosen from a pool of 400 talented applicants who auditioned on June 28 and 29 at Wangsa Maju.
Ticket Prices of The Sound Of Music Musical
The best deal ticket is RM320 (Category D), while the most expensive is RM630 (Premium). It also varies according to the dates (weekends are pricier than weekdays).
Furthermore, Category A box seats (private seats) cost between RM2,200 and RM2,320 (4 seats). Keep in mind, that these prices do not yet include the processing fee. It will cost a little more.
