If you’re a true Malaysian, you’ll know that one of the hardest questions to answer is literally, ‘’What to eat, ah?’’. Chill, it applies to me, too. And since we’re finally rejoicing the freedom to dine outside once again, the drawback of choosing nice places to eat will resurface. And even though we’re blessed to be spoiled with various delivery and food apps, nothing beats the ambience of eating at a restaurant, surrounded by your loved ones, with good foods and good ambience. If anything that I missed through the lockdown ‘’period’’, it was that.
Anyhow, while we’re slowly—not fully—going back to normal, here’s a reminder that we still need to practice a good distance measuring. Make sure the restaurants that you chose to dine in are actively sanitized, cleansed and accurately follow the standard operating procedures. And thankfully, most restaurants and cafes in the Klang Valley are perceptive enough to do all that. So, to help you guys celebrate the joy of eating outside once again, Glitz by Beauty Insider listed down the best cafes you could try—if you haven’t—all located at The Hub, SS in Petaling Jaya.

Hands down, one of my favourite places to have brunches. Like ever. This cute little grey-ish restaurant literally represents everything you need when it comes to croissants. Need a turkey sandwich? They’ll wrap it inside the crusty skin croissants! Oh, what about those big breakfasts with hash browns and eggs on the side? Yup, they’ll serve it with croissants, too. Please don’t be surprised with the amount of croissant-y on the menu because this place was actually built specialising in French cuisine, so we’re really not surprised at all. If you need something sweet, they have a collection of drooling desserts, too.

2. Gooddam
From French cuisine, we’re shifting big to Italian cuisine. If you’re sick and bored with having the same pizzas and pastas from the same places all the time, we suggest you try this Gooddam restaurant. Oh and before you ask for some ‘’reviews’’, don’t worry, we’re glad to explain it ourselves—expect to be served with lip smacking foods that were coated with thick and rich Mediterranean flavours, herbs, spices and olive oil. Their pizza dough is perfectly made from scratch, and their pasta is all specialized and made by their chefs. Imagine biting on those crusty, well-baked dough, paired with the wine of your choice. As for the price, it’s pretty reasonable too, if you’re having a celebration, we recommend you opt for the 5 course meal priced in between RM179, or 7 seven course meal at only RM229. And yes, expect less for two pax!

3. Kooky Cream
Looking to have only dessert on a hot sunny day? Look no further than Kooky Cream. You will be able to notice the cafe from long afar with their neon signage at the front door. The logo compliments the name of the cafe, which sees an adorable cartoon character licking her lips. Inside, you’ll be stunned to find almost 20 different flavours on display, and that doesn’t include shaved ice or ice cream. Gosh, it’s literally a dream come true for dessert lovers. If you have the time to visit this place, don’t forget to try their fan-favorites which are tofu cheesecake, rose lychee cake or mille crepe. If you get lost, just follow a sign that will lead you to The Language Arts Studio, the shop located directly next to them.

4. Mei By Fat Spoon
If you live within the Petaling Jaya district, you’ll be no stranger to this little cafe. Mei by Fat Spoon specialised in Japanese cuisine but with a little bit of modern twits. Like their Ox Tongue Rice Bowl, totally mesmerizing. If you’re a green tea lover like me, you must try their endless choices of green tea, with so many additional flavours to try on. And if these are not enough reasons for you to try, this restaurant has voted for one of the best places to eat in SS2. See, we told you, they’re good.

5. PoPo Hot Pot
This place is an extension of their successful restaurant at Kepong. PoPo Hot Pot SS2 prioritizes all things hot pot. From their various choices of soups, broth and arrays of different meats like chicken, pork bones and others. For starters, we recommend you to go for their Drunken Chicken Wings; every drop of their flavourful chicken jus will make you go crazy for another round. This place is suitable for those who prefer hot-served meals.

6. Slow Coffee
As if all those dishes and desserts ain’t enough, we sealed the list with a good place to buy coffee! If you happen to walk across Lot B, don’t forget to drop by Slow Coffee, which offers not only a variety of choices in coffee, but also pancakes, and tofu bites. Perfect for a quick coffee errands on the weekend!
