This year, Piaget is celebrating the Chinese New Year with an Altiplano clock. The timepiece is adorned with a cloisonné grand feu enamelled tiger. For this limited-edition of 38 timepieces, master enamaler Anita Porchet has meticulously handcrafted each one to capture the tiger in all its glory. Powered by the ultra-thin, manual-winding 430P movement, the timepiece is encased in a 38 mm 18K white gold case set with 78 brilliant-cut diamonds. It’s truly a testament to the Maison’s competence in ultra-thin watchmaking, gem-setting, and creative workmanship perfection.
Master Enameller Anita Porchet Works Her Magic
When it comes to enamelling techniques, Anita Porchet is an expert. She has worked with Piaget since 2006. The Altiplano watch features a 4000-year-old decorative art in the form of cloisonné. It starts with a transfer of the design onto the surface of the dial using gold ribbons. Anitha does this to create miniature partitions, or cloisons, in which the different enamel pigments are placed. Furthermore, she fires the dial in the kiln multiple times at temperatures between 820oC and 850oC. Then, Anitha adds varnish to the dial to preserve the image permanently.
The Celebrations Continue With Possession
Piaget has created a Possession Contrast Ring and Possession Contrast Open Bangle in 18k white gold to go with this Altiplano. They feature whimsical twisting bands set with diamonds and black ceramic. With a Possession Open Ring, a Possession Sliding Pendant, a Possession Open Bangle, and Possession Gold Bead Earrings, all set with diamonds, a number of magnificent masterpieces using red Carnelian beads join the celebrations. What you should know is Carnelians are able to bestow boldness, optimism, and success. In addition, these are all qualities linked with tiger characteristics and ideal for kicking out the new year in style.
