Local fashion house Wanzar is making a bold move in the direction of sustainable fashion with its new casual womenswear line, made with 100% organic cotton. Featuring loose cuts unconventionally inspired by the baju kurung. This eco-friendly collection is a play on the force of nature — with oversized tops and ankle-length pants that are airy, light, and perfect even in the Malaysian heat!

Wanzar’s newest line is a back-to-basics line

A departure from its signature elegant bridal wear, Wanzar’s newest line is a back-to-basics line that embodies the simple comforts and casual spirit of daily Malaysian life. With six minimalist designs and 17 pleasing, solid colours to choose from, every piece is versatile enough to mix and match across the collection for that effortless, relaxed look.

Inspired by today’s modern woman, four sets in particular stand out in this versatile, casual collection. Coming in vivid pops of colour under the Astrid collection, budding fashionistas have the choice of going for a bold-carefree look with Lime Green or Barbie Pink, or to opt for a more subtle, mysterious look with the alter-egos of Navy Blue and Dark Purple.

Abu Zarin Abdullah, Founder of Wanzar shares: “There’s always an unfortunate stereotype that just because something looks fashionable, it doesn’t last long or that it’s difficult to match with other clothes. This new collection is our way of proving them wrong, especially in our current era of fast fashion! Creating closet staples for everyday urban life was our mission going in, but we were also committed to doing our part in sticking true to our local roots and healthy manufacturing practices.”

Wanzar’s new womenswear collection is also very proudly Malaysian in its making! Every piece is lovingly made with care out of a studio factory in Putra Heights, in a wide range of sizes that embrace the varied silhouettes of the modern Malaysian woman’s body. ‘’This line is my way of paying homage to the local street fashion scene, to reimagine it meant for the modern Malaysian woman – the woman-on-the-go – as she goes about her day.’’ says Abu Zarin Abdullah.

Eco-forward fashionistas can purchase Wanzar’s new sustainable casual womenswear line at their outlets in Subang Jaya or Johor Bahru, or via Wanzar’s online store
