You’ve seen their images from Comic-Con and Anime Expo. You’ve seen footage from conference goers enjoying their moment of life. Yes, cosplayers are a distinct and fascinating kind, and not only because they dress up as superheroes.

Cosplay is a mash-up (aka frankenword) of the words “costume” and “play.” While the name suggests otherwise, there’s a lot far more to just Cosplay-ing.

Cosplay, in its most basic form, refers to an individual or team who likes dressing up, putting together intricate clothes, and acting out. Cosplayers or “role-players” may frequently dress up as a favourite character or style from anime, comic books, graphic novels, video games, television shows, movies, and other creative sources.

Tier One Entertainment

In Asia, there’s a company dedicated to honouring and upskilling Cosplayers across the South East Asian region, called Tier One Entertainment. They are the undisputed gaming and esports entertainment leader in South East Asia which is embedded in the content distribution and gaming world. They’ve built their success by developing a robust business model and making themselves the top tier destination for new and established gaming talents.

As for their Cosplayer talents, three recent figures specifically caught our eyes. Talents that go by the names Hakken, Knite and Shunsuke—we believe the names are no stranger to the cosplay and entertainment industry. With an impressive amount of followers across social media and an immense number of fans, it’s no wonder that Tier One Entertainment is eager to open their doors to these young talents.

Below, Glitz proudly shares their profiles.

Hakken

Hakken is a six-letter term that means “royalty in cosplay.” Hakken is a moniker that reverberates across the cosplay industry, spreading terrors across social media with far-reaching consequences. Millions of people have screamed in admiration for Hakken, who is well-known for his cosplay in Malaysia. The incredibly popular cosplayer has gone a long way. The 24-year-old from Sarawak originally delved into the world of cosplay as young as 12-year-old in 2010.

However, behind all those incredible images is an even more incredible individual motivated by the desire to portray their favourite characters alive.
