Cakes have become the perfect end to any celebration. The sugary treat can be used to celebrate festivities, milestones, and most importantly, birthdays. Furthermore, many of us prefer getting cakes from home bakers. As they do not contain preservatives and you can even order a customised cake. Located at The Hub @ SS2 is Kooky Cream, a contemporary cafe that serves up fragrant coffee and cakes. They also offer homemade peanut butter, cookies, and so much more. With that said, here’s our Kooky Cream review where we list down the top cakes you have to get.

1. Nutella Crunch

Kooky Cream Review

The Nutella Crunch cake is Kooky Cream’s top cake, as stated on its website. And we completely agree with the placing. The Nutella Crunch features a chocolate feuilletine base and layers of chocolate mud cake and chocolate praline mousse. You also get a nutella hazelnut glaze alongside fresh roasted hazelnuts on top. If you’ve ever has feuilletine, you would be familiar with the crunchy base. But as you dig into the rest of the layers, the rich chocolate takes over, ending with a great bite from the roasted hazelnuts. As part of our Kooky Cream review, we definitely think recommend you to try this.

2. Rose Lychee

Kooky Cream Review

The next bestselling cake that we’re going to do a Kooky Cream review on, is the Rose Lychee. That’s right – if you’re looking for a beautiful and fresh cake, this is the one. What you get is a gorgeous rose cream with fresh strawberries and lychee, sandwiched between rose sponge. On the top, fresh cream lies beneath a medley of fresh strawberries, rambutans, and rose petals. At the cafe, you can get them as slices, and they go extremely well with a cup of coffee. However, if you want a full cake which we recommend getting for your mum, you can order via their website.

Calling all taro lovers – if you love taro as much as we do then this Taro Cake is a must-try! It features a fluffy sponge cake and generous taro filling. It is then topped with fresh cream and a combination of pumpkin seeds, hawaiian coconut and almond flakes. And when we say the toppings are all over, we mean it. So what’s a Kooky Cream review without the taro cake? Every bite is guaranteed to be filled with a rollercoaster of textures, perfect for adventurous souls.

4. Blueberry Lime Cheesecake

Kooky Cream Review

Okay, so sweet cakes may not be for everyone. Which is why unique flavours and less sweet options are available. Thus, if you’re someone who prefers something less sweet, the Blueberry Lime Cheesecake is ideal. This cake is lime-based, with a layer of lime cheese and another layer of blueberry lime cheese. Of course, the cheesecake comes with an oreo base alongside fresh cream, lime zest, fresh lime slices, and blueberries on top. As part of our Kooky Cream review, we definitely recommend omitting the lime slices when you eat. Unless you enjoy the extra sourness. But the cake on its own is already on the sour side so the blueberries do help in balancing it out.

5. Lemon Pistachio

Here’s another option for all you less sweet lovers. The Lemon Pistachio highlights a beautiful lemon flat cake alongside pistachio butter cream. On the top, you can find a pistachio topping cream, toasted pistachios, and dehydrated orange slices. Nevertheless, this cake is less sour than the blueberry lime cheesecake. Thus, making it a great option for those who like something in between sweet and sour. The pistachio butter cream however, is a total game changer. The nuttiness and smoothness you get is something out of this world. Truly, worth a feature in our Kooky Cream review article!

6. Earl Grey Mille Crepe

Kooky Cream Review

It’s difficult when you need to buy a cake for someone who isn’t a big fan of cakes, nor the usual chocolate flavours. Should you find yourself in a similar situation, then we highly recommend this Earl Grey Mille Crepe cake. Mille crepe cakes are made of very thin pancakes layered with fresh cream or infused cream. In this case, an earl grey infused cream is used in every layer, and generously spread on top. Some toasted pistachios and rose petals then elegantly decorates the top. In terms of flavour, we have to say this one made an impact. So much so we just had to feature it in our Kooky Cream review article. The earl grey essence truly does shine throughout.

7. Houjicha Double Fromage

One of Kooky Cream’s bestselling cakes was the double fromage. But we think that the addition of houjicha truly takes it to the next level. Therefore, we’re recommending the Houjicha Double Fromage. It features a sponge cake base alongside a layer of baked mascarpone cream cheese. But that’s not all as it also has another layer of houjicha mascarpone cream cheese. On the top, you get houjicha fresh cream and houjicha powder. As someone who loves matcha and houjicha, we say, just get this and you’ll understand.

8. Strawberry Shortcake

Kooky Cream Review

What’s a Kooky Cream review without featuring their Strawberry Shortcake? It’s a classic that you need to order, whether it’s at the cafe or a whole cake. Aside from sweet and sometimes sour strawberries, the cake is soft and the cream is fresh as ever. Looking into the cake layers, you get three layers of sponge cake. In between the cakes are french vanilla fresh cream and fresh strawberries, as it is on top. With soft bites of cake and cream alongside a chomp of strawberry, it’s the perfect combination.

9. Dark Chocolate Hazelnut

If you’re just looking for a small cake for a small party, then try this Dark Chocolate Hazelnut. We have to say as part of our Kooky Cream review, this is similar to the bestselling Nutella Crunch. But it has a distinct difference. This item features a chocolate mud cake, chocolate ganache, and chocolate topping cream. However, unlike the Nutella Crunch, this one has some coffee syrup infused into it. Nevertheless, we think it makes a beautiful cake for birthday celebrations.

10. Sea Salt Chocolate Chips

Kooky Cream Review

While this isn’t technically a cake, we felt like it deserves a spot in our Kooky Cream review article. The only way we could describe these cookies are like a creation in between chewy and crunchy. The cookies are not too chewy but also oozes with chocolate, making it a beautiful mess. In terms of sweetness, it’s definitely on the sweeter side. However, the sea salt flakes on the top does help balance it out. We have to admit, we did finish the entire jar in a single sitting. So it’s definitely addictive but we love it and would gladly repurchase!
