If you love taking pictures, this bar might just be perfect for you. What’s more, is that if you want a quiet and elegant place to chill with your girls, then Jann KL is definitely your pick. Jann KL

Step into Jann KL and be greeted with golden brass, red-burnt brick and black and white floor tiles resembling tuxedos. All of this is the perfect setup to lure you into Jann’s signature jade wrap-around bar. It is a sophisticated sky dining area in KL and even has a patio space outside. Jann KL is the perfect bar for the location it is set in. Hints of Chinatown can be seen scattered throughout the whole bar. This bar in Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur looks over the streets and takes inspiration from its surroundings. Furthermore, the inspiration goes into their carefully crafted cocktails as well. Stepping out onto the patio, you’ll enjoy sky dining in KL with a panorama view of KL Tower and KLCC that is unrivalled. From this point, you’ll also be able to take a look at the old and new KL.

Jann KL Cocktail Menu

At Jann KL, you’ll also get to experience an abundance of namesake cocktails. One of their signatures includes Dear Jann. Priced at RM50, it is served in a champagne flute with a peachy pale colour that promises sugar and spice. Blending flavours like apricot liqueur, Vermont, lavender, gin and lime, creates a very retro drink. For an exciting plot twist, the addition of dried mandarin peel and chenpi adds a tangy taste.

Want a storytime with your drink? There are plenty behind the creations at Jann KL. Kapitan Yap, for example, is a nod to Yap Ah Loy, who was a pivotal figure in the development of the neighbourhood. Priced at RM45, it offers undertones of lemon, jackfruit, honey with the pairing of Jack Daniel’s. It is served in a more traditional teacup and is glossed over with a foamy egg-white cap.

For an unusual whiskey pairing, order The Tailor. Priced at RM45, this drink choice infuses Jack Daniel’s with bonito. Thus, it gives off a salty and sweet drink that might not be for the faint-hearted. It also pays homage to a century-old tailor shop on Jalan Sultan. Which to this day, still uses traditional sewing machines!

Tango with the devil when you order the Little Devils cocktail. Also priced at RM45, this is for all the naughty kids who used to hang out at Kwai Chai Hong’s alleyway. Within this drink, you’ll find Absolute Vanilla vodka and roselle mixed with the traditional candy of Haw Flakes. It is sour, sweet and floral all at once.

When there are little devils, there is always a master. The Great Master Kui is served in a small vase with crushed ice devouring it. Sipping on this cocktail, you’ll get a taste of citrus with flavours like bitter grapefruit and tart lemon. It is further enhanced with Elderflower Liqueur and Aperol. At only RM40, it is really an easy beverage to drink.

POS 1911 is a take on the classic Jungle Bird cocktail. Infusing tropical juices with Cachaca, Campari and Grapefruit offer a slightly bitter taste. What’s more, is that the drink comes with a little origami crane perched on the rim!

With the cocktails at Jann, you’ll also get a taste of tradition! Bak Kwa translates to “dried meat” in Hokkien. It settles nicely on top of the drink and is even blowtorched for a smoky flavour. Sweet flavours of the bak kwa blend nicely with the presence and smoky texture of the Alipus San Juan Mescal. To complement this meaty cocktail, there were also flavours of pandan, Grand Marnier and lemon.
