Wouldn’t you like to go ice skating? Even though it doesn’t snow in Malaysia, there are actually places where you can enjoy the cold and fun of ice skating! Of course, these are only indoors. There won’t be any real snow, but the cold of the ice will make you feel as if you are really in a winter wonderland! But where? Let’s take a look at all the fun and Glitz of skating in Malaysia. Besides the obvious two famously known locations, do you know any others? Well, if you don’t that is what you’ll find out today. If you can believe it, there are actually up to 9 different locations you can visit! Most of which are located within shopping malls. So, you can find out which one is closest to you. Ice skating in Kuala Lumpur has never been easier. 

Ice Skate In Malaysia

1. Sunway Pyramid Ice

Sunway Pyramid is probably the first place you think of when someone suggests going ice skating in Kuala Lumpur. Built back in 1997, Sunway Pyramid Ice is actually the first ice skating rink in Malaysia! It is also the most popular to visit. Furthermore, there are also professional trainers on-site to guide everyone, whether they’re kids or adults. Since it is so popular among kids and adults, it can get quite crowded during the weekends and public holidays. It is also important to take note that the price and admission fee change depending on whether it is a weekday or weekend. So if you want a cheaper experience, we recommend visiting on weekdays, where there are fewer people too!

2. Blue Ice Skating Rink, 163 Retail Park

Skating in Kuala Lumpur has never been easier when you can visit Blue Ice Skating Rink at 163 Retail Park! This new hotspot for ice skating just opened up at 163 Retail Park in Mont Kiara. Even though the rink is on the smaller side compared to Sunway Pyramid, it is still a great place for a date or just family fun. The walls are also lined with bright neon lights that are incredibly Insta-worthy. Grab a few snapshots of yourself to post on the gram! Show off your skating skills and have your comments flooded with questions of where in the world are you! Similarly, the prices vary depending on weekdays and weekends, when there are fewer or more people.

3. Blue Ice Skating Rink, KL East Mall

Go ice skating at KL East Mall. Another outlet of Blue Ice Skating, it is also a larger version of the one at Mont Kiara. If you need a bit more room to stretch, visit the Blue Ice Skating Rink at KL East Mall instead! It caters to fun group activities and even offers beginner figure skating classes, along with short-track speed skating classes. Not a fan and just want to watch the kids have fun? Don’t worry, the rink is surrounded by a variety of restaurants for you to choose from. Sit back and relax after some fun on the ice, or get the food hot and ready for the kids coming in.

4. Icescape

iOi City Mall is probably second on your list if anyone asks you to go ice skating. Icescape is actually the first Olympic sized ice rink in Malaysia! Open to the public back in 2014, it still gathers a crowd. On one side of the ice skating rink, you’ll be able to see the gorgeous greenery outdoors thanks to its glass windows. Furthermore, the rink also hosts numerous premier skating competitions and performance events. Occasionally, you’ll also spot the few young prodigies training at the rink! But don’t worry, they offer a range of tailored lessons to suit any skating experience.

5. Malaysia National Ice Skating Stadium (MYNISS)

If you want to know where all the pro skaters practice for Olympic events, head no further than the Malaysia National Ice Skating Stadium (MYNISS). This rink is Malaysia’s first Olympic-regulated ice rink. It is well-equipped with all the professional facilities tailored to host world-class tournaments on ice. A fun fact, this skating rink was actually built for the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games! But, even if you aren’t a pro yet, you can still visit the rink. Although, you may feel a bit dejected if you spot any professionals practicing on ice!

6. The Royale Ice Skating Rink

This may come as a surprise, but there is actually an ice skating rink inside The Royal Chulan Hotel at Damansara! Yeah, we were surprised too! The Royal Ice Skating Rink is situated right above the hotel lobby. Thus, it is available to both guests and the public. The ice rink is a decent size and offers a nice view of the greenery outside. This could be a fun staycation to have with friends and family. Especially if they were not expecting to be ice skating in a hotel!

7. Blue Ice Skating Rink, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru

Don’t worry, not all ice skating rinks are located in the heart of the city. There is actually a Blue Ice Skating Rink outlet located at Paradigm Mall in Johor Bahru! That’s right, anybody in Johor can now skate at this rink. Blue Ice Skating Rink seems to be a popular name on our list, seeing as they have up to 3 outlets in Malaysia! Over at the Johor Bahru branch, they even offer ice hockey lessons for anyone up for the challenge.

8. Blue Ice Snow Park Pavilion Bukit Jalil

Look alive because a new ice skating rink is now open at Pavilion Bukit Jalil! Head on over to Blue Ice Snow Park located on level 5 of the mall for some freezing fun. Blue Ice Snow Park offers REAL ICE entertainment. Furthermore, it’s also said to have a simulation of the northern lights, as well as a romantic ambience when night falls! So, this is definitely the perfect spot for date night, or to have some fun with friends.

9. ESPACE Grand Merdeka Mall Sabah

Did you know that there is a synthetic ice skating rink in Sabah? Located at Grand Merdeka Mall, ESPACE is where you can go to experience a little ice skating fun! Although there isn’t any real ice, it is still a fun place to hangout with friends. The best part is that you won’t have to be afraid of the cold. Furthermore, you can also opt for roller skates as well! So, this makes ESPACE an affordable and all-in-one space for all types of skating fun.
