After nearly two long years of hiatus, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2022 kicks off with surprise performances and an amazing lineup, attracting countless festival-goers all around the world to Indio, California. It was held for two weekends, starting on 15 April before concluding on 24 April with performances by The Weeknd, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, 2NE1, Megan Thee Stallion, Arcade Fire, Flume, Disclosure and Daniel Caesar. Although we couldn’t physically be there to bask in the California sunshine and sing at top of our lungs, we’re still super psyched just by watching the live stream on YouTube. It has been a few days since the weekend two ended but Coachella is literally the main thing that music fans are talking about right now. The Best Performance
Harry Styles Unveiled Surprise Collaborations
As one of the headliners, Harry Styles closed the day one of Coachella 2022 with an amazing setlist of his hits songs including “As It Was”, “Sign of the Times” and “Adore You”. The former One Direction member surprised the audience when he performed the band’s single “What Makes You Beautiful”. The singer-songwriter also unexpectedly invited Shania Twain on stage to sing the song “Man, I Feel Like A Woman”. Another cameo also includes Lizzo, who joined him for a rendition of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”. With his custom made rainbow sequins jumpsuit by Gucci, it was by far one of the best Coachella outfits we ever laid our eyes on.
2NE1 Reunion
Coachella 2022 was filled with surprise performances but the reunion of 2NE1 is certainly the main highlight for K-pop fans. As part of the performers for the 88Rising label, Dara, Bom and Minzy appeared on stage to join CL in performing “I Am the Best”. This performance signified their first reunion after six years of disbanding. Needless to say, social media exploded with trending videos and hashtags of 2N
Billie Eilish, Historic Headliner
The 20-year-old multi-Grammy award winner created history as the youngest Coachella headliner which was previously held by Ariana Grande. Although it also marked her first Coachella debut, Billie Eilish delivered an amazing performance of her songs which include“Bury a Friend”, “Happier Than Ever” and “Bad Guy”. She was joined on stage by Hayley Williams of Paramore and Damon Albarn, lead vocalist of Gorillaz.
Doja Cat Drops New Songs
Doja Cat returned to Coachella as a headliner, taking the main stage to perform her hit songs, “Woman”, “Say So”, “Tia Tamera”, “Streets”, “Juicy” and “Kiss Me More”, which recently won Grammy for the best pop duo. Doja Cat performed her new song, “Vegas” with a first-ever live performance and teased her unreleased song called “Shots”.
Aespa, Third Ever K-pop Girl Group To Perform
After teasing the secret for a while, Aespa, a quartet girl group hailing from South Korea wowed the crowd with their performance on several hits including “Savage”, “Black Mamba”, “Next Level” and “aenergy”. Their appearance on weekend two of Coachella marked them as the third K-pop girl group to be ever invited to Coachella. Aespa also exclusively performed a snippet of their upcoming song, “Life’s Too Short”.
The Best-Dressed at Coachella 2022
Vanessa Hudgens
Any list of the best outfits would not be complete without the queen of Coachella herself, Vanessa Hudgens. As a frequent attendee of this world’s best music festival, the actress never failed to mesmerise us with her boho-chic look. She wore a neon pink outfit by Triangl and accessorised it with a bucket hat.
Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner was seen with a white crop top and baggy trousers, whilst her hair was styled with high braided pigtails. Although she went low-key unlike her usual Coachella outfit, the starlet looked stunning.
Olivia Culpo
Olivia Culpo attended the Revolve party showing some serious abs. The former Miss Universe donned a neon green mini skirt and black crop top. She paired the outfit with chunky military boots, accentuating her slim figure.
Bretman Rock
Bretman Rock was spotted wearing a matching neon green crop top with baggy jeans and a handbag. The social media star also accessorised his look with dark eyewear and a silver necklace.
Alessandra Ambrosio
Touted as the playground for celebrities and influencers, we’ve seen jaw-dropping fashion looks at Coachella 2022. One of our personal favourites is the white patterned jumpsuit worn by Alessandra Ambrosio. Her Y2K pink sunglasses and oversize bag complement her overall look perfectly.
