Getting To Know Gajen Chandra
1. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m a 23-year-old student currently completing my degree in Public Relations. I enjoy making content online and have a passion for art and fashion.
2. When did you start making TikTok videos and why?
I downloaded Tiktok in the beginning of the very first MCO in 2020 because all of my friends were on it. I started posting videos about a month later for my friends to watch.
3. How did you feel when you realised your videos were gaining popularity?

It all started with a video I posted recreating Jennie’s hairstyle in Blackpink’s “How You Like That” music video. The video gained over 50k views in just an hour and I was extremely overwhelmed. I started posting everyday ever since to keep up the momentum and that was when I saw a steady growth in my account.
On Being A Content Creator
4. Where does your inspiration for the videos come from?

I usually draw inspiration from personal experiences, existing trends on Tiktok and also other content creators. It begins with a particular audio or song I come across and I’ll think of a scenario that fits it.
5. Are you currently a full-time content creator? Or do you have another full-time job?
I am currently still studying and content creation is something I do on the side for now. I would love to become a full-time content creator if I continue to grow my platform.
6. How has your life changed since becoming a TikTok content creator?
My life has changed in so many different ways. I think the biggest change would be in my self-confidence and the way I express myself online. I am also alot busier now that I have to post regularly on social media. It’s also nice being able to support myself financially now and gain wonderful experiences working with different brands and companies.
7. What is one thing you wish people knew about being a content creator?

I wish people understood the amount of thought and effort put into creating content online. A lot of people think it’s an easy job when it’s really the opposite.
Pros And Cons
8. What are the challenges you’ve faced so far being a content creator?
One of the challenges I often face would be having to juggle between my studies and creating content. During submission weeks and when my finals are nearing, I find it difficult to post regularly. It is also challenging at times when you get a creative block and find it hard to come up with new content ideas.

The best thing about being a content creator is the gratification that comes from entertaining people and simply making people laugh.
10. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
If I continue to grow my platform, I see myself becoming a full-time content creator in the future. I would also like to branch out and start my very own clothing brand.
