The introduction of Fendi x Versace, informally known as Fendace, continues the season of heavy-hitting luxury collabs (also known as “swaps”) in 2022. The full collection was shown late last year and is now coming just in time for summer. Donatella Versace, Silvia Venturini Fendi, and Kim Jones created it, and it is undoubtedly the apex of fashion collabs. Glitz got the tea and it is HOT.

What To Know About Fendace

The highly awaited so-called swap is in shops today, and fashion lovers are eagerly snatching their favourites, thanks to an innovative collaboration between three of the industry’s leading designers. “It’s a swap rather than a collaboration, and most of all, it is done out of friendship,” explains Kim Jones, Fendi couture and womenswear artistic director. “It is the beauty of togetherness after time apart and a celebration of women who have inspired me so much.”

The mood was set when the first Fendace heel hit the Perspex catwalk last September, first unveiled in a supermodel-studded private presentation during Milan Fashion Week: it was a blazing return to the nightlife. While Kate Moss, Amber Valletta, Naomi Campbell, Kristen McMenamy, Gigi Hadid, and others paid respect to the party-loving It girl, Drake, Future, and Young Thug’s “Way 2 Sexy” blared.

Furthermore, the campaign is based on the same theme. Adut Akech, Amar Akway, Anja Rubik, Anok Yai, Imaan Hammam, and Lina Zhang enter the Fendace club, where they are met by supermodel bouncers McMenamy and Campbell, in pictures shot by Steven Meisel and a video directed by Alex Maxwell. The message is clear: this is a minimalist’s game.

Fendace includes the “Fendi by Versace” line as well as “Versace by Fendi,” which was created in collaboration with Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi. The collections feature ready-to-wear, handbags, footwear, and accessories presented in a “role and brand code exchange.” Fendi’s double F logo is coupled with Versace’s Baroque pattern, the Fendi baguette is paired with a Versace Medusa insignia, and co-branded graphic designs can be seen on shirts and hoodies.
