For some artists, a six years period might be a long time for a break (Hi, Rihanna)… but if you’re Beyoncé, who knows exactly how to make a grand comeback, then fans don’t really pay that much mind—we’re willing to wait for as long as it takes.
Last Friday, the royal musician officially announced her upcoming album, titled Renaissance—and if the title doesn’t sound intimidating enough, something tells us that her first solo album since 2016’s Lemonade will be a massive hit. The rumours of the album initially circulated since the iconic performer removed her bio and profile photo from her social media channels in recent days. In case you missed it, this method has now become synonymous with significant celebrity announcements, so it was reasonable for fans to draw this assumption even before the singer said anything.
Then, as expected, Queen Bey dropped the big one: “act I RENAISSANCE, 7.29,” on her bio.

Renaissance is the singer’s sixth solo album, and it comes six years since her last EP, Lemonade, which was released in 2016. The next year, Beyoncé gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir, making her a mother of three, along with oldest daughter Blue Ivy and husband Jay-Z.
In short, her music production took a back seat for a while when she focused on raising her children. Though, she actively attended a few musical events as well as other lavish ceremonies including the 2022 Oscars.
What To Expect In Renaissance?
While we don’t yet have a tracklisting for Renaissance, we do know that it will be released in two parts. According to the singer’s statement, ”Act I” will be released in July, implying that ‘’Act II’’ is also on the way.
Quickly after the revelation, fans received a sneak peek of the album’s sound and atmosphere via Vogue UK‘s current cover story starring the singer. Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful discusses hearing the record for the first time in the piece. Spoiler alert, the album will bring you back to that 2000’s era of Beyoncé—yes, the pop up-beat kind of music.
“Soaring voices and ferocious beats collide, and I’m taken back to the clubs of my childhood in an instant. I want to stand up and begin throwing movements. It’s music that I adore. Music that makes you rise, music that opens your eyes to civilizations and subcultures, music that connects us all on the dance floor, music that touches your spirit” Edward Enninful wrote in the article. This description definitely makes us think of Crazy In Love, and if that’s the case, consider ourselves sold with this album already!
When Will The Album Be Released?
You will definitely be aware of when her forthcoming album drops because it’s going to be on everyone’s radar—Twitter and Instagram will keep you on your toes. But anyway, Beyoncé has stated that Act I will be officially released on July 29, so mark your calendars.
Where Can We Listen To The Album?
The album will be available on all of the normal paid music sites, such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. When Beyoncé made the first announcement, several outlets followed suit with their own revelations for Beyoncé’s upcoming album’s first act. It just says “Renaissance, Act I” on a black backdrop with basic white lettering.
