International Friendship Day falls on July 30th each year, reminding us to cherish our friendships just as much as we value our family members and romantic partners. Every relationship is worth celebrating, especially one as pure as having a close pal. 1. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo
Award-winning pop superstar Ariana Grande and her equally decorated bestie, actress and singer Cynthia Erivo, have been practically inseparable since meeting on the set of their upcoming musical, Wicked. This is no exaggeration as over the past two years, the duo has been spotted together at nearly every A-list event, from the 2024 Met Gala to the recent Olympics Opening Ceremony in Paris. At the Met Gala, Grande even invited Erivo as a special guest to perform Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston’s Oscar-winning ballad, When You Believe. The true mark of their friendship is their coordinated outfits as they often dress in the colours of their Wicked characters, with Grande donning pink as Galinda and Erivo in green as Elphaba. Nothing screams “BFFs for Life” more than matching outfits.
2. Anya Talor-Joy and Cara Delevigne
Actress Anya Taylor-Joy and model Cara Delevingne met in 2021 during Dior’s 2022 Cruise collection in Athens. Once again proving that the stereotype about women being catty to each other is a bunch of misogynistic nonsense, Taylor-Joy and Delevingne’s friendship began when the former helped the latter fix her dress during the photocall — and the rest is herstory. Their recent public outing together was at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival last month where they spent the five-day event wearing matching outfits (and under-eye patches) and grooving to the live performances.

We never thought we would live to see the day that globally-recognised movie star Tom Cruise passes the torch to another actor but it appears the day is upon us. His support for Glen Powell, who he met on the set of their blockbuster hit, Top Gun: Maverick, is unprecedented, as seen when the sixty-one-year-old attended the premiere of Powell’s new movie, Twisters, earlier this month. Of course, Powell has nothing but lovely things to say about his movie mentor, including divulging how Cruise had made him watch a six-hour film school video he reserved for his closest friends. Clearly, Powell had better gear up as he has some massive shoes to fill.
4. Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid
Forget Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, all eyes were on Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid as they graced the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine last week. Dressed like ketchup and mustard bottles as a nod to the two main characters of the movie, Lively donned Atelier Versace while Hadid wore head-to-toe Miu Miu. The blonde actress-and-model duo met during the mid-2010s through yet another A-list blondie, superstar Taylor Swift. Since then, they’ve supported each other’s careers and motherhood journeys, with Lively being a mother of three and Hadid a mother of one. What a pair of super mamas!
5. Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones

The friendship between rising stars Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones has been widely discussed due to dating rumours and the public shipping the pair together. Once again, to all the Normal People fans, Mescal and Edgar-Jones are just super close pals, no star-crossed love to be found here. Who could blame them for being attached as they both rose to stardom at the same time thanks to the Emmy Award-nominated drama? It’s always thrilling to see Mescal and Edgar-Jones reunite, most recently at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival where the latter was in attendance with her boyfriend (another reality check).
