Once an iconic landmark that housed the Rex Cinema, the RexKL was transformed into a maze for bibliophiles, offering the latest trendy hub for the local community. Nestled at the heart of Petaling Street, BookXcess RexKL features a unique architectural design with hidden sections, floor to ceiling shelves and a maze layout.

It also makes use of the distinctive architecture by creating a spacious setting that includes exhibition space for arts and performance. The BookXcess RexKL first opened its doors in November last year which also marked the 16th outlet of this bookstore chain.

This one of a kind bookstore also has captured the public attention with its impeccable backdrop that is Insta-worthy. The BookXcess RexKL offers a whopping 80,000 books with a myriad of options that cater for all categories like children, fiction and non-fiction books.

What’s more, the bookstore is also equipped with a section, especially for stationery and gifts. Visitors can also marvel at the stunning artworks from Malaysian and Indonesian artists that are up for sale. Currently, they hosted an art installation exhibition by Ernest Zacharevic, a Penang-based Lithuanianian that is titled ‘Everything will be OK’.

Once you step into the BookXcess RexKL, you will notice a visible industrial design with exposed concrete and irregular stairs, which is a nod to its past and present elements. With trendy cafes and restaurants located near the place, the BookXcess RexKL is, without doubt, the next ‘it’ spot for locals.
