Living in the city can be annoying—crowded malls, packed restaurants and cafes, dealing with never-ending traffic, the unwelcomed construction noise, and so on and so forth. I love the city though, but sometimes I wished I had my own genie in the bottle that could transport me somewhere safe and sound and just literally turn off my phone and indulge in a sweet long weekend getaway. 

I know it sounds possible to do that, especially around the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur, but trust me, Glitz managed to find just the sweetest spot for your little escape. Sounds exciting? 1. Enjoy Waterfalls & Durian Eating

Go for a two to three days trip to Bukit Tinggi, Bentong and Raob. Start your itinerary by having breakfast at Bukit Tinggi, a leisure lunch at Bentong, and a fantastic dinner at Raub. We suggest you have a pitstop and try their famous Cham an Butter Kaya Toast at Tonkey Kopitiam, they are to die for. If you’re looking for quieter places and more mindful scenery, at Chaman Falls. Don’t forget to visit Yes! Orchid farm to try their Musang King Durian. 

2. Glamping, Farming & Coffee Indulging

Looking for a more village-vibes getaway? Then look no further than Janda Baik. This city is filled with homestays and resorts that are surrounded by nature and farms. We recommend you to hop over at Ulu / Lata Tempit or Lata Hammer to experience the best hiking experience. If you opt for a glamping site, check out the places surrounding Sungai Benus. Not enough, head over to Kota Melawati Fort to see a lighthouse that was built in the late 1700’s. Your night will be filled with fairy lights all around. 

5. Visit Orchid Farms & Hokkien Village 

Batang Kali is more than just a pit stop between Genting Highlands and Cameron Highlands. They are filled with historical places and stories, hot springs, Hokkien Culture, orchid and guava farms. Take a quick brunch at World of Phalaenopsis with mouth-watering cheesecakes, waffles and brewed coffees. Next, wander around Hokkien Village which made up the majority of Batang Kali’s population. For some tea time session, enter the Hoho farm and be greeted by Mr Ho who will walk you through the farm to taste the sweetest guavas!50 mins from the city

6. Visit Kampung Orang Asli

Looking to experience something different? Check out this unique Kampung Orang Asli at Pulau Carey. You will be walked through an array of historical stories, shows and experiences by an aboriginal tribe known as Mah Meri at Mah Meri Cultural Village. Next, check out their handcrafted museum and buy some souvenirs at Orang Asli Cultural and Handicraft Centre, and be prepared to be wowed with their unique wooden statues and masks. 

7. Street Culture & Coffee Hunting 

C’mon, who doesn’t love a good quick trip to Ipoh? It’s no secret that Ipoh, Perak is filled with belly-filling foods, freshly brewed coffee and incredible street culture. Though, for you who haven’t yet tried, we suggest you visit Concubine Lane, a hot spot for tourists to stroll around and take pictures. Want a good cup of coffee experience? Check out nostalgic places like Lim Ko Pi or Chang Jiang White Coffee. If you want to be more adventurous, you can walk around the laneways to find hidden cafes. 

8. Picnics In The Greenery

Prepare a small picnic spread and a mat, then travel to one of the city’s picturesque picnic places for a great time with your friends, family, or significant other rather than hanging out at a mall or eating in. Taman Saujana Hijau, Perdana Botanical Garden, Desa Park City, KLCC Park, and Kepong Metropolitan Park are a few of our favourite picnic locations nearby KL. These parks provide lots of green space for you to lay out your mat and take a break from the stresses of daily life.

9. National Parks And Indigenous Tribes

The longest canopy walk in the world and the majestic Mount Tahan may both be found at Taman Negara, the oldest national park in Malaysia. The 500-meter-long Canopy Walk in Taman Negara, which holds the record for the longest ropewalk in the world, is the real showpiece. To get to the refuge at the Kelah sanctuary, you may also take a boat trip through the jungle.

You may also learn about the Bateq tribes, an indigenous, nomadic clan of hunters and gatherers in Malaysia. You’ll observe the sumpit, or two-meter-long hunting method, used by the Batek people.

10.  Bird Watching Within Misty Highlands

Fraser Hill, which is located in Pahang and was previously a colonial hill station used by the former British colonial forces, continues to be a popular highland resort for Malaysians seeking a taste of scones and British tea in a lush setting. The project area is renowned as Fraser’s Hill’s most visited location for bird viewing. Each year, the Fraser’s Hill International Bird Race draws a large number of tourists and birdwatchers, and the area is known for its bird viewing. You may visit the Bishop Trail or the Hemmant Trail; both of these trails are mainly level and make for excellent first outings for families or groups of children who want to enjoy a leisurely stroll while viewing some magnificent birds.
