Kenyir Lake is a massive, manmade body of water that spans 311 kilometers and is surrounded by tropical forests that contain an incredibly diverse array of flora and fauna, some of which are rare and endangered. 4. Islamic Civilisation Park
You don’t have to be a Muslim to be interested in the colourful history of its followers and the religion as a whole. As an outdoor edutainment park centered on Islamic culture and heritage, the Islamic Civilisation Park (or Taman Tamadun Islam in Malay) showcases twenty-eight mini replicas of monuments from around the world, including the Taj Mahal and the Alhambra Citadel in Granada. 5. Turtle Alley
Turtle Alley is as unique an attraction as they come, a themed lane decorated with colourful turtle mosaics on both the walls and ground. No one expects to visit Terengganu without witnessing an ode to the state’s official animal, after all. This narrow alleyway features landmarks such as a gorgeous statue of a turtle hatchling and a mosaic of two green turtles. Originally a derelict gap between pre-war houses, it was transformed in 2010 after waterfront reclamation, thanks to the turtle conservation group’s initiative. Now it’s as stunning as ever, not to mention a great place to take pictures.

6. Terengganu State Museum
The Terengganu State Museum is one of the largest museums in Malaysia, spanning four buildings and nine galleries, namely the Natural History Gallery, Textile Gallery, Royal Gallery, Craft Gallery, Petroleum Gallery, Islamic Gallery, Historical Gallery, Seafaring and Trade Gallery, and Fisheries and Marine Gallery. 8. Bukit Singa
Even though we promised a list of the best things to do in Terengganu apart from beaches and islands, let’s ignore that Bukit Singa is located on Pulau Kapas. Given the breathtaking view at the top of the hill, it’s no wonder that Bukit Singa is incredibly popular amongst hikers. You don’t even have to be a seasoned hiker to make the trek as the hike takes about just an hour and isn’t too steep at all. However, Pulau Kapas is known for having rocky and slippery cliffs so be sure to dress appropriately.
