The Best Taiwanese Restaurants in Klang Valley

1. Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant

Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant needs no introduction for those who are long-time fans of Taiwanese cuisine. The food is so exceptional that it attracts many loyal patrons who keep returning to indulge in their delightful offerings. We recommend trying the steamboat set, pork belly, and lamb stir fry for a satisfying dining experience. Although some of the staff can’t communicate in English, they are attentive to our inquiries and always offer great hospitality. We were pleasantly surprised by the spacious interior, which can accommodate over 100 people at a time. While this restaurant is on the pricier side, you can be assured that you will leave with a full and happy tummy.

2. Two Pesos

Two Pesos says every day is a good day for hotpot, and we couldn’t agree more. This Taiwanese restaurant offers fresh ingredients, a variety of soups like mala, Japanese sukiyaki, and Mongolian style, and many condiments, such as garlic sauce, chilli sauce, soy sauce, onion oil, and green onion — all available to adjust to your taste preferences. We believe this is the ideal spot for a small group of friends to catch up while cooking your own hotpot. Additionally, it offers a personal hotpot size for one person, perfect for someone who wants to sample a bit of every soup variant. You may need to reserve your spot, as it can get crowded, especially during peak hours.

3. Din Tai Fung

Famous for its delectable xiao long bao and comforting steamed dumplings, you absolutely can’t skip these two dishes when visiting Din Tai Fung. It presents a contemporary side of Taiwanese cuisine like you have never seen before with best sellers, like braised beef noodle soup, shrimp egg fried rice, and fried pork chop — ready to be savoured by food enthusiasts. Despite the crowd, the service was prompt and attentive, which we praised. The staff also maintained great hygiene protocols throughout our visit, and the clean environment made us feel comfortable dining in. With many branches across Klang Valley, you can relish your cravings for xiao long bao anytime, anywhere.

4. Grand Taipei

You can’t go wrong with Grand Taipei, as this family restaurant leaves us with an unforgettable nostalgic taste with its homemade-style dishes. Some of the food you can indulge in includes dumplings, Taiwanese beef noodles, egg rolls, braised pork rice, numerous vegetarian options, and many other famous Taiwanese dishes for an appetising meal. We recommend pairing your meal with Taiwanese tapioca milk tea to wash your palate with its sweet taste. This restaurant has a cosy, relaxing environment where you can sit for a long time without worrying about people queuing outside, waiting for a table. If it is your first time trying this restaurant, here’s a little tip to locate it: it’s next to Starbucks.

5. Tai Jie

If you want to satisfy your appetite with authentic Taiwanese cuisine while at Sunway, we suggest checking out Tai Jie. Whether it’s lunch or dinner, you’ll enjoy the flavour of its all-day set meals. Not sure what to order? Try the golden crispy chicken chop rice set and the Tai Jie pork braised rice set, both served with three slices of Taiwanese sausage and chrysanthemum tea. The dishes deliver a flavoursome taste that we can’t get enough of. The restaurant also offers various Taiwanese street snacks, including tempura fish, salted crispy chicken, and sweet potato fries — a perfect spot to grab a quick bite in an air-conditioned setting. 6. Taiwanese House

Personally, we like the vibes Taiwanese House gives with its clean and minimalist interior — there are a few corners perfect for your social media photos. Simply choose and devour dishes from its menu, such as the Taiwanese stewed pork set or the signature braised pork set, in a spacious environment. All food is reasonably priced, and QR payments are accepted. It is a pet-friendly Taiwanese restaurant that allows customers to bring their pets to chill and enjoy the delicious food together. Do note that dogs need to wear a diaper, but if you happen to forget, you can buy one for RM5 at the counter. However, we found that finding a parking spot is challenging, especially during busier hours.

7. Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot is all about an inviting atmosphere, comfortable seating arrangements, and irresistible hotpot. The seating layout is designed to cater to large groups, with just the right space between tables. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu, so feel free to ask for their recommendations. We had an amazing dining experience at this newly renovated restaurant. It now features artistic Chinese calligraphy and red bricks that enhance the authentic Taiwanese vibe. With fresh ingredients in a well-seasoned soup, the portion of the hotpot is generous enough to be shared with family. And don’t miss the signature dipping sauce, complemented with crispy dried shrimp and peanut butter.

8. Jin Taiwan

Being one of the best Taiwanese restaurants in Klang Valley, Jin Taiwan offers a delightful experience in a less crowded area of Puchong. We tried the shrimp noodles and salted fried chicken rice. The fresh chicken impressed us with its taste and juiciness. Plus, we sampled stinky tofu for the first time — it was incredibly crispy. The menu features a range of options at reasonable prices, so you can enjoy your favourite dishes without straining your budget. Therefore, we recommend Jin Taiwan if you are looking for Taiwanese cuisine in a more relaxed setting.
