On the 25th of July 2024, Atsuko Okatsuka (pronounced “ahtz-ko oh-cots-ka”) will be performing at the HGH Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The show is a part of her ‘Full Grown’ International Asia Tour 2024, which counts six sold-out shows in just Singapore alone. Ticket prices range from RM158 to RM298 for Okatsuka’s stop in Malaysia, not too steep a price for a joyous night of laughs that you’re bound to remember forever!
Okatsuka’s brand of humour has been described as childlike yet still informed, thanks to her complex and challenging upbringing. In case you didn’t know, the 36-year-old moved to America when she was eight and lived undocumented for seven years. Okatsuka delivers her personal stories on stage with brutal honesty that doesn’t stem from negativity. When describing her humour, she wisely stated that, “I think there’s different approaches, ways you can approach comedy. One is anger, and that’s funny to people too. But that’s not why I got into it. I don’t like for my comedy to live in that space of anger.”
