The Wicked press tour kicked off in Sydney on November 3rd. Grande’s look paid tribute to Billie Burke’s original Glinda, featuring a poofy pink Vivienne Westwood gown dotted with crystals and paired with a Lorraine Schwartz butterfly choker. She stood hand in hand with co-star Erivo, who graced the red carpet in a black strapless Louis Vuitton gown with a peplum skirt, complemented by a Roberto Coin diamond lion choker that’s enclosed with, of course, an emerald.
2. Los Angeles Premiere
For the premiere in Los Angeles on November 9th, Ariana Grande looked absolutely adorable in a Thom Browne pale pink plaid dress and gloves, the Glindafied version of Dorothy’s iconic blue gingham from The Wizard of Oz. She paired the look with Swarovski-covered heels instead of ruby-red slippers. Cynthia Erivo — literally — stunned in a shiny neon-green Louis Vuitton cutout dress, complete with a quirky floor-sweeping fringe coat.
3. Mexico Premiere
The Mexico premiere on November 11th did not disappoint, with Grande and Erivo getting more creative with their red carpet looks. New York’s premiere on November 15th was an exclusive affair, hosted by Vogue’s long-time editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. This time, Grande ditched Glinda’s signature pale pink for a hot pink strapless Louis Vuitton satin gown with ruched detailing. Cynthia Erivo brought sexy chic in a black Dior dress with a sheer turtleneck top and a net headpiece. We can’t get enough of her sparkling green eyeshadow — a subtle Wicked Witch nod.
5. London Premiere
The final looks at the London premiere on November 18th surprised everyone but devoted Wicked fans. Grande’s flowing light yellow Ralph Lauren gown marked a departure from her usual pink Glinda dresses, drawing inspiration from the musical’s One Short Day scene where Glinda and Elphaba are dressed in yellow and black, respectively. Erivo followed suit in a striking black Schiaparelli gown with an eye-catching spherical copper opening in the skirt, revealing bronze-flecked sequined tights.
