Recently, Aaron Chan and JJ Tee, the founders of Dink Avenue, sat down with us to talk about the vibes at the court, a memorable moment, and some exciting plans for what’s ahead.

What sets Dink Avenue apart from other pickleball courts in the area?
Oh, where do I begin? Dink Avenue isn’t just a place to play pickleball, it’s a community hub, a social scene, and a wellness destination all wrapped into one! We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming environment for all skill levels. It doesn’t matter if you’re a first-time dinker or a seasoned pro, there’s a place for you here. Our unique mix of vibrant court design, friendly staff, and community events really sets us apart.
What is the vibe like at Dink Avenue? Is it all about competitive play, casual fun, or a mix of both?
It’s a perfect mix! You’ll see intense rallies between advanced players on one court and a group of coworkers laughing through their lunch break game on the next. We’ve got social tournaments for those who want to test their skills, but we’re also all about the social games, good vibes, and making memories.
How many courts do you have, and how are they spaced out for optimal play?
We have 6 Wimbledon-inspired and beautifully maintained courts. Each court has its own buffer zone, so you’re not bumping elbows with your neighbors — and there’s enough space for spectators too! Not to forget, there is netting between each court making it perfect for drills.
What amenities and facilities does the court offer?
We’ve gone all out to make Dink Avenue your go-to spot! We have a nice resting place, high-quality paddle rentals, a pro shop, and even an on-site café with healthy snacks and yes, our courts are all well lit.
Since the venue is pet-friendly, are there any specific areas designated for pets or guidelines for bringing them?
Yes! We love our furry fans! We’ve got a designated “Pet Patio” where you can hang out with your pup while enjoying the game. All pets must be leashed, well-behaved, and owners are kindly asked to clean up after them (we provide all the bags and bins). We’ve even got water bowls and the occasional treat at the front desk — because four-legged guests deserve good service too!
We have heard Dink Avenue has an after-work promotion. Could you tell us more about that? What made you decide to offer it?
Absolutely! Our “After Work” promotion runs from 5 PM to 8 PM on weekdays. We offer an off peak rate of RM39 only. We wanted to create a space for people to shake off the workday stress, reconnect with friends, and get a little movement in. It’s been a hit, think happy hour, but with paddles!
Do you offer membership packages for regular players?
Not at the moment but it’s definitely in the pipeline. Stay tuned!
If someone is new to pickleball, what tips would you give them before their first game at your court?
First off, welcome to the most fun sport on the planet! Don’t worry about being perfect; just focus on having fun. Wear comfortable clothes, bring some water, and don’t be afraid to ask questions, our staff and community love helping out newbies. And remember: it’s called a “dink” for a reason, soft shots can win games!
What’s the most memorable moment you have seen happen on your court? We bet there are some epic rallies!
Oh, there are so many! But one that stands out is when a 75-year-old grandma and her 14-year-old grandson teamed up during a social game. Not only did they win all their games but they had the whole crowd cheering with every shot. It was pure joy and just goes to show how pickleball brings generations together.
Where do you see the pickleball scene in USJ going in the next year, and how is your court involved?
It’s booming! We see it becoming a staple of the local lifestyle, just like grabbing coffee or going to the gym. At Dink Avenue, we’re all in. We’re working with local schools, businesses, and wellness programmes to introduce pickleball to even more people. Expect bigger leagues, more workshops, and youth clinics coming soon!
Got any exciting future plans for the court?
Oh yes, we’re just getting started! We’re planning themed tournament nights, live DJ sessions, and an exciting event space downstairs to host events and weekend bazaars. Big things are coming! Stay tuned!
