We have officially entered the last third of September, and there is no better way to welcome October with a good ole’ binge watching on streaming platforms. And before we started to gear up for those Halloween movie marathons, why not catch up with some of these award-winning tv shows on Disney+ Hotstar? 

The 2022 Emmy Awards which were held in early September witnessed many historical wins across the board, and among the many highlights of the evening, Disney+ Hotstar shone through with an impressive line-up of show contenders! 

So, to celebrate the wins and bidding farewell to September, here are some award-winning titles to add to your watchlist this weekend. 

1. Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers

This Disney+ Hotstar original made history as the first animated film to win the Outstanding Television Movie category. Starring comedic actors John Mulaney, Seth Rogen and Andy Samberg, Chip ‘n’ Dale makes a comeback when their fellow Rescue Rangers co-star goes missing. Full of mystery and shenanigans, this film is a must-watch for all Disney fans.

2. Abbott Elementary

Snagging three Emmy awards, Abbot Elementary was the talk of the town for its diverse casting and realistic take on comedy. The series follows a group of teachers who find themselves thrown together in a struggling Philadelphia public school. Despite being outnumbered and underfunded, they are determined to help their students succeed in life.

3. The Beatles: Get Back

Sweeping all five nominations including Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Series, The Beatles: Get Back is one of the greatest music documentaries of our time. Peter Jackson takes the audience inside the mind of the band members as they work on their 1970 album, Let It Be.

4. Dopesick

Michael Keaton won his first Emmy as an Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Anthology Series or Movie for his role as Dr. Samuel in Dopesick. Also featuring Will Poulter and Rosario Dawson, the miniseries is centred around America’s struggle with opioid addiction. Riveting, insightful and fast-paced, the series explores humanity in an impactful way.

5. Only Murders in The Building

This crime-comedy series won three Emmy awards for its outstanding production design and amazing cast. Starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short, the series follows three unlikely strangers who share an obsession with true crime. However, their life starts to unravel when they suddenly find themselves caught up in their very own murder mystery.
